4,735 members, 4,700 of whom were entitled to vote, took part in the club's annual general meeting at the VELTINS-Arena on Saturday (16/11). schalke04.de has summarised the most important information and decisions from the seven-hour event.

Schalke 04 break even and forecast profit

FC Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04 e.V. have published the figures for the 2024 abbreviated fiscal year on Monday (28/10). Due to an amendment made at the Royal Blues’ annual general meeting last year, the club’s fiscal year will now run from 1st July to 30th June of the following calendar year. The figures presented relate to the period from 1st January 2024 until 30th June 2024, while the previous year’s figures cover the period from 1st January 2023 until 31st December 2023. As a result, only limited comparisons can be draw between the two periods.

S04 partner with Deutsche Krebshilfe for special edition shirt

What started in 1973 as a test run in Braunschweig soon became the norm in German football: shirt sponsors. FC Schalke 04 first ran out with a sponsor on the front of their shirts in the Bundesliga in the 1978/79 season. Günter Siebert, then president of the club, decided that the Royal Blues would promote a charitable cause in the form of the Deutsche Krebshilfe (German Cancer Aid).

Registered Cooperative Society: Shares for everyone who is a part of us

Shaping the future of our club independently and positively – that is the goal of the Registered Cooperative Society at Schalke. During an extended, intensive process, the club's leadership engaged in strategic discussions on how the Royal Blues can proactively address the changing challenges within the world of football and make the club fit for our objectives. The result of this is the founding of the Registered Cooperative Society at Schalke. As part of the overall process, there was also an exchange with members of the Schalke family on these very questions.

Matthias Tillmann: We had clear criteria when searching for a new coach

In a selection process with several candidates, Kees van Wonderen ultimately came out on top when the club were looking for a new head coach. “There were several really good candidates when it came to their tactics and skills, but you ultimately need someone that will connect with the team and get them behind them and their ideas,” said Matthias Tillmann, who believes that the new head coach will do just that.

Kees van Wonderen: You can only improve if you push one another to be better

After watching the 2-2 draw against Hertha BSC on Saturday night (5/10) live at the VELTINS-Arena, Kees van Wonderen signed his contract to become the club’s new head coach a day later.

SV Ried to become a partner club of FC Schalke 04

Austrian second-division side SV Ried will enter into a partnership agreement with FC Schalke 04, becoming the club's third international partner club. The Royal Blues had previously announced a partnership with VVV-Venlo in early June, with Emmanuel Gyamfi and Paul Pöpperl joining the club on loan soon after. A few weeks later, Schalke announced another partnership with FC Aarau, who they will face in a friendly on 12th October.

Shakhtar Donetsk to host Bayern München at the VELTINS-Arena

Thursday’s Champions League draw, which took place at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, saw Shakhtar Donetsk’s opponents be decided. Alongside Bayern München, the Ukrainian champions will host last season’s Europa League winners Atalanta, Swiss champions Young Boys, and French side Stade Brest at the VELTINS-Arena.

Marc Wilmots: We have planned for many years ahead

FC Schalke 04 have announced four new signings in just the last few days, with Christopher Antwi-Adjei, Ilyes Hamache, Steve Noode and Mauro Zalazar all coming through the door. Marc Wilmots reported that the club are no longer planning to bring anyone else in, however changes to the squad could still be possible up until the transfer window’s conclusion on Friday (30/8).

Together with 11teamsports and adidas: S04’s new away kit in the colours of Gelsenkirchen

All roads lead to Schalke: The new 2024/25 away shirt, presented by the Royal Blues in partnership with suppliers 11teamsports and adidas, is dedicated to the home city of the Knappen. And right there, in the centre of Gelsenkirchen, is where it will be available to see for the first time: S04 and BOGESTRA have come together to get this shirt launch right on track. Line 302, which connects the neighbouring cities of Gelsenkirchen and Bochum, was given a matching look and will be underway along this route for half a year.

Matthias Tillmann: Even more excited for the start of the new season now

Around 75,000 fans came along to ‘Schalke Day’ on Sunday (21/7) at the club’s grounds. CEO Matthias Tillmann, captain Kenan Karaman, new signing Amin Younes and MOGUAI spoke to schalke04.de about the fan day, presented by new main sponsor SUN MINIMEAL.

A timeless classic: S04, 11teamsports and adidas unveil new home kit

1997 is year that will always have a special place in the history of the Royal Blues. Our new home kit for the 2024/25 season, which S04 is launching together with suppliers 11teamsports and adidas, is a homage to that special era and our UEFA Cup triumph. The presentation of our new home kit was also special. On Schalke Day (21st July), the team themselves displayed it to the fans for the first time on the stage at the Tausend-Freunde-Mauer.
