Royal Blues to play friendly against FC Gütersloh

FC Schalke 04 have arranged a friendly for the forthcoming international break. On Wednesday, 20th March, head coach Karel Geraerts’ side will visit North Rhine-Westphalia-based Regionalliga club FC Gütersloh. The game will kick off at 19:00 CET at the Ohlendorf Stadion in Heidewald.

The friendly has come about through cooperation with the company Hagedorn, who have been a partner of FC Schalke 04 since 2019. The consortium are Germany’s top all-round service provider in demolition, waste disposal, civil engineering and land revitalisation, and have their headquarters in Gütersloh. Hagedorn are also a sponsor of FC Gütersloh, and will present the game as part of their sponsorship activities at Schalke.

The managing director Thomas Hagedorn is looking forward to the match between his two favourite teams. The clubs previously faced each other a year and a half ago. In another friendly on 22nd September 2022, FC Schalke 04 came out 3-0 winners through a brace from Simon Terodde and another goal from Danny Latza.

Karel Geraerts: Some nicely worked goals

After a successful training camp in Albufeira, coach Karel Geraerts was fairly pleased with his team’s final friendly before the return of competitive football. The Belgian was satisfied with the first-half performance in particular in the 3-1 win over KAS Eupen on Saturday (13/1). “We were well organised, scored two nicely worked goals and did well overall in possession,” said the head coach.

3-1 win over KAS Eupen thanks to Terodde and Idrizi

FC Schalke 04 won 3-1 against KAS Eupen on Saturday (13/1) in their final friendly before the 2. Bundesliga restarts. Simon Terodde scored twice and Blendi Idrizi also got himself on the scoresheet at the VELTINS-Arena against the Belgian first-division side, who had 2022 promotion hero Victor Pálsson in their ranks. The Iceland international was given a warm reception by the 14,964 fans in attendance.

Final friendly to provide reunion with Victor Pálsson

FC Schalke 04’s final friendly before the second half of the season will be on Saturday (13/1, 13:30 CET) against KAS Eupen at the VELTINS-Arena. The Belgian club’s squad includes Victor Pálsson, an S04 promotion hero from 2022. The Icelandic defensive midfielder has been an Eupen player for six months, starting every game since joining and only missing three minutes in all competitions.
