FC Schalke 04 were beaten 3-1 by FC Twente on Friday evening (22/7). 26,000 fans at De Grolsch Veste enjoyed an entertaining pre-season friendly, in which Marcin Kaminski put S04 ahead early on. Michael Vlap (13’) quickly equalised and the Tukkers scored twice late in the game to seal the win.

FC Schalke 04 lost for the first time in pre-season on Saturday (9/7). SV Meppen defeated the Royal Blues 3-1 in their fourth friendly before the new season. Dominick Drexler put S04 ahead after 32 minutes, however goals from Marvin Pourie (35’), Luka Tankulic (43’) and David Blacha (57’) gave the third-division side the victory.

Marvin Pieringer: I’m embracing the competition for places

After struggling to create many chances in the first half, FC Schalke 04’s performance in the second half of their friendly against SC Verl on Wednesday (6/7) was much better, and they were rewarded for this improvement with a 1-0 win against the third-tier side, their third victory and third clean sheet of pre-season. Marvin Pieringer was pleased with the team’s second-half showing.

Praise and criticism after 7-0 win against Lohne

Three days after their 14-0 win over VfB Hüls, Schalke romped to a 7-0 victory over fourth division side Blau-Weiß Lohne on Saturday. Danny Latza opened the scoring in the tenth minute with a curling effort into the top corner and five more goals followed before the break.
