Marcin Kaminski: I feel good and I have confidence in my body

The Royal Blues weren’t satisfied after their 2-2 draw on Thursday against VfL Osnabrück. One player, however, had reason to be content following the final whistle. After more than three months on the side-line, Marcin Kaminski celebrated his comeback. The centre-back has been out of action recently due to a calf injury and had worked hard to be able to get some playing time in this calendar year.

“I’m happy that I played 30 minutes. It was my target to be on the pitch again before Christmas – I did just that,” said Kaminski, who with his statement also wanted to express a huge thank you to the medical department as well as the physiotherapists at the club. “They all helped me to get fit again,” said the Pole.

The left-footed defender was substituted after an hour of play in the clash with Osnabrück. “The 30 minutes did me good,” explained Kaminski, because “games are a different entity to training sessions. I feel good, I have confidence in my body. It was a difficult period for me. When you want to help your team but are unable to, that hurts.”

The fact that he was unable to round off his comeback with a win annoyed the defender. „We said before the game that we wanted to wave the short Christmas break goodbye with a win. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to do that.“ Nevertheless, there was a positive in keeping the score 2-2 in the final stages, said Kaminski before stating: „We fought until the final whistle.”

The Royal Blues will also have to fight in the coming weeks and months to achieve their aim of staying in the top division. “I want to play my part,” said the 30-year-old. “We can read the table; we know where we stand. One thing is clear: we need points. We have to work hard for that. I believe in us.”
