Two goal contributions on debut for Bryan Lasme leave him hungry for more

Bryan Lasme impressed on his Schalke debut on Saturday away to SC Spelle-Venhaus (3-0). The attacker set up a goal and assisted one too in S04’s first pre-season friendly. “It was a good start. I’m happy and satisfied with how the game went,” said the French attacker, who featured 55 times for Arminia Bielefeld over the last two seasons in the top two divisions.

The striker came on for the second half with eight other players against the fourth-tier side and immediately had an impact on the game. He made it 2-0 in the 56th minute with a smart finish into the far corner. Simon Terodde, who was introduced at the same time as Lasme, set the goal up with a lovely chested pass.

Lasme turned provider late on, putting it on a plate for Keke Topp with a lovely chipped ball across the box. The youngster had the simple job of heading into an empty net after Lasme’s excellent work. The 24-year-old new signing also came close to scoring a second himself, narrowly missing the target and being denied by Spelle goalkeeper Bernd Düker.

Excited to play at the VELTINS-Arena

Lasme was quick to play down the importance of his first game in Schalke colours, having only been at the club for a week. “We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us before the start of the season, which is totally normal.” The French forward has set himself some targets for the upcoming campaign: “I want to play as much as I can, help the team by scoring goals and secure promotion back to the Bundesliga,” he stated.

Lasme is extremely looking forward to his first game at the VELTINS-Arena. “The atmosphere will be really special,” he said. His first appearance at home as a Schalke player could come on 22nd July in a friendly against friends FC Twente (13:30 CEST).
