Soufiane El-Faouzi wins DFL Goal of the Season vote

Soufiane El-Faouzi produced a stunning overhead kick to send Timo Becker’s cross into the top corner away to Elversberg on matchday 29, scoring the crucial equaliser in a 2. Bundesliga top-of-the-table clash that the Royal Blues eventually won 2-1 despite playing with 10 men for more than half an hour.

The midfielder’s spectacular effort has now been voted the Goal of the Season by football fans across Germany. The vote took place on the official DFL app.

The 23-year-old came out on top ahead of 14 other goals shortlisted by the DFL. El-Faouzi’s strike was one of three Schalke goals in the running, alongside captain Kenan Karaman’s promotion-clinching winner against Fortuna Düsseldorf on matchday 32 and Dejan Ljubičić’s long-range thunderbolt away to SpVgg Greuther Fürth on matchday 24.

First-half figures show another positive result for FC Schalke 04

FC Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04 e.V. published its financial figures for the first half of the 2025/26 season on Tuesday (24/3). During the first half of the season (1/7 to 31/12/25), the Royal Blues recorded a consolidated profit of €2.5 million (same period last year: €6.6 million), putting the club within the projected range for the season. Revenue totalled €83.5 million (same period last year: €95.0 million). The decline was mainly due to fewer events at the VELTINS-Arena compared to the first half of 2024/25.
