FC Schalke 04 to travel to China in July for a third time

“The Spirit of Miners. The Soul of Football.”: That is the motto that the Schalke 04 first team will travel to the Middle Kingdom with between the 2nd and 12th July 2018. The club will spend the first few days of their trip in Kunshan before moving on to the country’s capital Beijing, where they will stay for the majority of their time in China.

“We’re travelling back to China for a third successive year and are looking forward to seeing how the awareness of FC Schalke 04 continues to grow. The country is an important target market when it comes to our long-term plans for expansion. We want to integrate the name of Schalke 04 further into the minds of the public, as well as strengthening our partnerships and getting the local people excited about Schalke,” said Schalke’s board member for marketing, Alexander Jobst.

As well as running Meet and Greets with Chinese fans, autograph sessions, sponsor activities, open training sessions and a diverse range of PR events, Schalke will also unveil their new away kit to the public in conjunction with kit supplier Umbro.

Two friendlies

S04 will play two friendlies during their tour, with the first taking place on 5th of July against English Premier League side Southampton FC in Kunshan.

The second friendly will see the Royal Blues take on Hebei China Fortune in Langfang on the 11th of July – a match which will signal the official start of the new partnership between the two clubs. Schalke will look after the content-element and strategic building of the club’s youth department as well as supporting Hebei China Fortune with its licensed coaching and scouting team. The aim of the project is to develop Chinese talent using the Bundesliga’s performance center as a model

FC Schalke 04 release revenue numbers for first two quarters of 2021

FC Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04 e.V. reported a total revenue of €106.7 million in the first two quarters of the 2021 fiscal year (€102.2 million in the first two quarters of 2020). Business operations were affected by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the ensuing restrictions, as well as relegation from the Bundesliga. Particular attention was paid to mitigating the effects on total revenue through cost-cutting measures, reduced working hours, and the halting of development and investment projects.
