Schalke to return to Mittersill for pre-season training camp

The Royal Blues will begin pre-season training on 17th June. Head coach Dimitrios Grammozis and his team will have six weeks to prepare for the start of the 2021/22 Bundesliga 2 season (23rd-25th July).

Mittersill

In addition to training in Gelsenkirchen, the Royal Blues will also be travelling back to the mountains. For the fifth time, Schalke will take part in a pre-season training camp in Mittersill from 29th June to 10th July. The Royal Blues will stay at the Schlosshotel Mittersill as usual, located in the Hohe Tauern National Park, one of the club’s partners. Two of the team’s six pre-season friendlies will take place during their 12-day stay in Austria.

Pre-season friendlies still to be announced

Whether or not fans will be able to follow the team in person during their pre-season preparations remains to be seen. As more of the population is vaccinated, together with a decrease in the infection rate, it could be possible for fans to attend the start of pre-season training. The same is true for the friendlies that have been planned. The club is monitoring developments to the Coronavirus regulations and will continue to develop its hygiene and protective measures, taking into account the DFL’s regulations.

The exact timings of the friendlies will be announced in the coming weeks, and will be shared on schalke04.de as well as the club’s social media channels. Questions about the training camp and any other pre-season activities can be directed here. Due to the unpredictable nature of the Coronavirus pandemic, the club is asking for your understanding that many decisions can only be made and announced on short notice.
