Soichiro Kozuki named Player of the Month for January

The past few weeks have been extremely eventful for winger Soichiro Kozuki. After signing his first professional contract, he went on to make his Bundesliga debut and then scored his first goal in the top flight too. Now, the Japanese youngster has been named as Schalke’s Player of the Month for January with 71% of the votes. Tom Krauß (26%) came second ahead of Cedric Brunner in third (3%).

The attacker was presented with his award, sponsored by Hagedorn, after Friday’s home game against VfL Wolfsburg (10/2). S04 supporter Laura Perlick was there to give him his prize. The 32-year-old fan from Dorsten was drawn as the lucky one from thousands of voters. She was invited to the VELTINS-Arena to give him a signed photo.

“I voted for Soichiro because he gave his all in every game. He breathed new life into the team right from his first match,” said Perlick, who was joined at the VELTINS-Arena by her mother. They not only got to meet Schalke’s number 38, but also received two VIP tickets and a free car parking space for the home game against Wolfsburg. “It was an unforgettable experience,” added the season ticket holder. “I have dreamt of meeting a player for a long time.”
