Goalless World Cup warm-up against North Macedonia for Katic and Džeko

Bosnia and Herzegovina had two Schalke players in their squad for Friday’s (29/5) friendly match against North Macedonia. Nikola Katic featured in the first half, while Edin Džeko was rested for the 0-0 draw.

The S04 duo will be part of their country’s squad for the upcoming World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada. The Bosnians will take on Canada (12/6, 21:00 CEST), Switzerland (18/6, 21:00 CEST) and Qatar (24/6, 21:00 CEST) in Group B. First though, one more warm-up friendly awaits before they kick off their campaign – Katic and Džeko will be applying the finishing touches to their preparations next Saturday (6/6, 21:00 CEST) against Panama in St. Louis, Missouri.

Edin Džeko helps Bosnia and Herzegovina make next step to World Cup qualification

The dream of qualifying for this year’s World Cup is still very much alive for Edin Džeko and Nikola Katić. A 4-2 victory on penalties over Wales on Thursday (26/3) means that Bosnia and Herzegovina have booked their place in the qualification play-off final. The game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, with Džeko playing a key role. The day before, Mika Wallentowitz celebrated making his debut for the Germany U19 side in a 2-2 draw with Sweden.
