Henning Matriciani and Tom Krauß named in final Germany U21s squad for European Championship

Henning Matriciani and Tom Krauß have been named in the final Germany U21s squad for the upcoming tournament in Romania and Georgia, to be held between 21st June and 8th July. Sepp van den Berg will also be involved in the tournament with the Netherlands. Elsewhere, Ibrahima Cissé will be in action with Mali in the U23 Africa Cup of Nations. Kenan Karaman, Jere Uronen, Alex Král and Rodrigo Zalazar are all also on international duty.

Coach Antonio Di Salvo has included both Henning Matriciani and Tom Krauß in his 23-man squad for the U21 European Championship. Germany’s first game is against Israel on 22nd June, before further matches against Czech Republic (25th June) and England (28th June) in Group C. A friendly against Switzerland is also scheduled for 16th June.

Sepp van den Berg will also be going to the tournament with the Netherlands. The centre-back will take on Belgium (21st June), Portugal (24th June) and Georgia (27th June). They will also face Japan in a friendly before the tournament on Wednesday, 14th June.

Ibrahima Cissé is also set to play in an international tournament this summer with Mali U23s. Their opponents in the group stage of the U23 Africa Cup of Nations (24th June to 9th July) are Gabon (25th June), Egypt (28th June) and Niger (1st July).

Next round of Euro 2024 qualifiers

The third and fourth matchdays of the Euro 2024 qualifiers will take place over the coming days. Kenan Karaman and Turkey will first make the trip to Latvia on 16th June, before hosting Wales three days later. Jere Uronen and Finland are in action on the same days, welcoming both Slovenia and San Marino to the north of Europe.

Czech Republic, with Alex Král in their squad, will play away against Faroe Islands (17th June) in a qualifier and then travel to Montenegro for a friendly on 20th June.

Zalazar hoping to win his first cap

Rodrigo Zalazar could make his Uruguay debut under new coach Marcelo Bielsa over the next week. They will play friendlies against Nicaragua on 15th June and Cuba six days later.
