Hee Chan Hwang celebrates 3-0 win against Ecuador on 83rd cap for South Korea

The first games of the international break have been played, with Hee Chan Hwang the only Royal Blue in action on Thursday (24/9). Hwang brought on after 65 minutes

Hee Chan Hwang was subbed on in the 65th minute of South Korea’s 3-0 win in their friendly against Ecuador. It bought up the striker’s 83rd cap for his country.

Hyeon-Gyu Oh (54’/Besiktas), Heung-Min Son (58’/Los Angeles FC) and former Royal Blue Dong-Gyeong Lee (86’/Ulsan HD FC) all got on the scoresheet at the Suwon World Cup Stadium.

South Korea will be back in action against Uruguay in another friendly in Seoul on Monday (28/9, 13:00 CEST).

Tanaka on the bench in 3-1 win versus Uruguay

Satoshi Tanaka did not feature for Japan as they beat Uruguay 3-1 as part of the Kirin Challenge Cup at the Q&A Stadium in Miyagi.

Kuryu Matsuki (11’/Southhampton FC) had put the hosts in front in the first half, before Maxi Araujo (42’/Sporting) managed to level the scores shortly before the break.

The Samurai Blue then scored twice in injury time, with Kento Shiogai (90’+1/VfL Wolfsburg) putting them on course for victory. Ayase Ueda (OSC Lille) scored their third goal five minutes later. Former Royal Blue Rodrigo Zalazar came on for Uruguay in the 66th minute.

Japan’s next opponent will be Venezuela in Hiroshima on Monday (28/9, 12:25 CEST).

Adamu and Wöber both on the bench in 3-1 win against Israel

Austria began their UEFA Nations League campaign with a late 3-1 win against Israel in Group 3 of League B.

Junior Adamu was an unused substitute at the Raffeisen Arena in Linz, with Schalke teammate Maximilian Wöber watching on from the stands. The centre-back, who had been called up for the first time in 15 months, was one of four players from the 27-man team not named to the matchday squad.

Former Werder Bremen midfielder Romano Schmid put Austria in front from the penalty spot just two minutes before the break (43’/Frosinone Calcio). Saied Abu Farchi (55’/Maccabi Tel Aviv) managed to draw level early on in the second half, before Mainz’s Phillipp Mwene managed to restore their lead in injury time (90’+1). Sasa Kalajdzic (LASK) then scored their third of the night.

Austra will be back in action in the Nations League on Sunday (27/9, 18:00 CEST), as they take on Kosovo in Vienna.
