Simon Terodde: It’s always good to get on the scoresheet

Striker Simon Terodde’s first goal of 2024 was a lovely one, bringing down Tobias Mohr’s cross on his right foot and then firing through the legs of Koen Casteels on his left against VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday (6/1).

“It’s always good to get on the scoresheet, whether in training, a friendly or a competitive game,” said the S04 captain. “The game against Wolfsburg was fun, even if we unfortunately lost in the end. It was played at a decent standard, we held our own and kept things pretty tight at the back. We can take a few positives from the match despite losing 3-2.”

One positive was definitely the move which culminated in his goal in the 34th minute. “It’s important that we have a lot of movement up front. We want our system to be flexible rather than rigid, and that involves making runs in behind,” explained the 35-year-old. “We’ve worked on a lot in training over the past few weeks, so it’s nice that that paid off for my goal.”

We know we’ve got a bit to do still before the season resumes in two weeks. Every player wants to impress and be on the pitch against Hamburger SV.

The striker is satisfied so far with the training camp in Albufeira. “We’re working hard and training is really intense. Every player is fully committed during the sessions. However, we know we’ve got a bit to do still before the season resumes in two weeks. Every player wants to impress and be on the pitch against Hamburger SV.”
