2028: Youri Mulder’s contract automatically extended following promotion

Youri Mulder’s contract as director of professional football at FC Schalke 04 has automatically been extended by one year following the club’s promotion to the Bundesliga, now running until the end of the 2027/28 season. By the time that the game against the Berlin club at the VELTINS-Arena kicks off at 20:30 CEST on Friday, August 1st, the Royal Blues will have eight friendlies under their belt. Seven games have already been played, with only a fixture against Sevilla FC at 17:00 CEST on Saturday (26/7) to round off Schalke Day remaining.

FC Schalke 04 and Youri Mulder will continue their cooperation, with the 56-year-old taking up a permanent position as the club's director of professional football until June 2027. Mulder had previously been in the role on an interim basis since November 2024, having also been a co-opted member of the supervisory board.
