2028: Youri Mulder’s contract automatically extended following promotion
Youri Mulder’s contract as director of professional football at FC Schalke 04 has automatically been extended by one year following the club’s promotion to the Bundesliga, now running until the end of the 2027/28 season. Mulder has held the role since November 2024, overseeing and developing the professional performance centre and its various departments.
“Youri Mulder has made a huge contribution to the positive development that’s taken place here at Schalke. Around 18 months ago, he stepped up and took on a new responsibility in a challenging situation, and he has always been calm and considered, even during difficult periods,” said Frank Baumann, FC Schalke 04’s board member for sport. “Youri stands for continuity, clear values and absolute loyalty to our club. He never shies away from uncomfortable situations, asks the right questions and offers support. It is particularly important that, together with Miron as head coach, he continues to shape our culture of high performance within the professional performance centre.”

Youri Mulder said: “The automatic extension of my contract is the result of the hard work put in by a large group of people. The squad, the coaching team and the backroom staff have achieved something truly special. I’m looking forward to continuing our journey together. Our full focus now is on preparing in the best possible way for the upcoming Bundesliga season.”
As announced on Saturday evening, Miron Muslic’s contract as head coach was also automatically extended by one year following promotion to the Bundesliga. The 43-year-old joined the Royal Blues from Plymouth Argyle in the summer of 2025 and has been a key figure in the team’s positive progress this season.
