Vitalie Becker signs first professional contract with Schalke 04

Another talent from the academy has committed his future to the Royal Blues. U19s player Vitalie Becker has signed a long-term senior contract with FC Schalke 04. The 18-year-old will officially be a member of S04’s senior team from 1st July 2024 and his contract is valid until 30th June 2027. The finer details will remain undisclosed.

“We’re over the moon that we’ve managed to get a talented local player in Vitalie to make a long-term commitment to the club and that he’ll become a permanent part of the first-team squad in the summer. He’s earned the step-up to the senior team through his consistently good performances for the U19s,” said sporting director Marc Wilmots. “Vitalie has played at every age level for Schalke since he joined the U9s. He’s worked hard and continued to improve.”

Head coach Karel Geraerts was full of praise for the promising full-back. “Vitalie took his first few steps with the first team in the friendlies and at the training camp and looked impressive. He’s a young player who’s keen to establish himself at Schalke. We’ll support him in this endeavour and will give him all the time he needs.”

Vitalie Becker moved to Schalke’s U9 side from SV Zweckel in 2013. He has made eight appearances for the Germany U17s, in addition to his three caps for the U19s, as a result of his impressive displays for the Royal Blues. He has scored two goals in nineteen competitive appearances so far this campaign.
