Lattimore and Osmanbasic also worked together with Muslic during his spells in Plymouth and Bruges. Volkan Ünlü has replaced previous goalkeeper coach Stephan Loboué. Assistant coaches Tim Hoogland and Alexander Storck (has now taken over the role as Head Fitness Coach) will remain part of the coaching staff. Sidney Sam will take on a new role, now responsible for looking after players out on loan. “Following some thorough analysis carried out at the end of the season, we have made several decisions to provide the coaching team with a fresh impulse. We took the time we needed to analyse things, learn our lessons and approach every new acquisition with conviction,” explained Youri Mulder, director of professional football.

“From both a professional and personal perspective, Eddie, Adin and Volkan are all perfect additions to our coaching team. They are all true team players, they like to get stuck in and lead from the front. I’m pleased that, along with Tim and Alex, we’ve now got a really good setup here,” said head coach Miron Muslic. “Everyone will take on a clearly defined role. It’s important to me that each person knows their area of responsibility and can show their strengths in the best possible way, so we can work efficiently and successfully.”

Head coach Miron Muslic

Eddie Lattimore has worked alongside Muslic at Plymouth Argyle and Cercle Brugge over the past four years. Prior to his time in Belgium, the 32-year-old also worked for Reading, Swansea City and in Tottenham Hotspur’s academy. Adin Osmanbasic also knows S04’s head coach from their time together in Plymouth and Bruges. The 30-year-old American was previously on the books at MLS sides Columbus Crew, Atlanta United and Houston Dynamo in various roles.

With the two new assistant coaches Lattimore and Osmanbasic joining the club, Sidney Sam will no longer be an assistant. The former Germany international will now use his experience to help the club’s youngsters that are away on loan. “We will once again loan out players this summer to help further their development at the right level for them. This worked well last season with our partner club VVV-Venlo for example. Sidney worked a lot with young players last season,” explained Youri Mulder.

Ünlü steps up from the Knappenschmiede

Volkan Ünlü has replaced Stephan Loboué as the first team’s goalkeeper coach, stepping up from his role with the club’s academy. The 41-year-old Gelsenkirchen native was previously in charge of goalkeeper development in the Knappenschmiede and was goalkeeper coach for Norbert Elgert’s U19 side. Ünlü played four Bundesliga games for the Royal Blues back in 2003/04.

Stephan Loboué joined FC Schalke 04 last summer as goalkeeper coach but has now departed the club. “We would like to thank Stephan for his work last season and wish him all the best for the future,” commented Youri Mulder.
