“I’m very thankful for the many successful years I had in Kiel. Now, I’m excited to get to play for Schalke,” said Porath. “During our meetings, the club’s management team showed me where my strengths fit in with the team. I want to showcase those and can hardly wait to be on the training pitch together with the rest of the lads.”

Porath, who was born in Eutin, began playing football at SF Herrnburg, before moving to VfB Lübeck and then Hamburger SV. He made his debut for the Germany U16s while at the Rothosen, featuring in 21 matches (4 goals). He was then part of the Germany U17s squad that took part in the U17 EUROs in Malta in early 2014. Porath made his way up the ranks of HSV’s academy sides before making his Bundesliga debut on 20th November 2016.

He then spent 2017 to 2019 on loan at SpVgg Unterhaching, where the midfielder was able to gain several years of experience playing in the 3. Liga. Porath joined Holstein Kiel in 2019 and has since featured 186 times in all competitions for the Storks, earning promotion to the Bundesliga with the club in 2024. He featured in 31 Bundesliga games for Holstein last season (2 goals, 2 assists).
