FC Schalke 04 end Niklas Tauer's loan spell early

1. FSV Mainz 05 and FC Schalke 04 have agreed to bring an early end to midfielder Niklas Tauer's loan move during the winter break. His contract was originally set to run until 30th June 2024.

“We would like to wish Niklas all the best for the future, both on and off the pitch,” said FC Schalke 04 sporting director André Hechelmann.

During his time in Gelsenkirchen, the 22-year-old made two competitive appearances for the first team, while also featuring in four games and scoring one goal for the U23s.

An MRI scan on Monday (20/11) showed that Assan Ouédraogo has torn a syndesmosis ligament in his right foot. The 17-year-old will therefore definitely miss the remaining four games of the year. A decision on when Ouédraogo can return will first be made in January 2024.
