Number of players back in training

Over half a dozen of players were back in training for the first full week of FC Schalke 04’s calendar year.

After the majority of the Schalke squad returned to training at the weekend, eight players were back as planned on Tuesday afternoon (6/1): captain Kenan Karaman, Vitalie Becker, Soufiane El-Faouzi, Loris Karius, Nikola Katic, Hasan Kuruçay, Ron Schallenberg and Moussa Sylla.

These eight players had been given some additional time off to recover from their heavy workload in the first half of the season. Midfielder Paul Pöpperl also returned to training after recently being out with a cold.

The Royal Blues will play a friendly on Saturday (10/1) at 14:00 CET away to third-division side VfL Osnabrück.

Bryan Lasme ruled out with knee injury
