Schalke 04 agree to terminate contract with Amin Younes

FC Schalke 04 and Amin Younes have agreed to terminate his contract effective immediately. Frank Baumann, S04 board member for sport, shared the decision in a one-on-one conversation with the midfielder on Monday (16/2).

“After what we consider to be a very successful winter transfer window, the chances of Amin getting playing time are very slim, which does not meet his personal expectations. As a result, we wanted to give him the chance to take advantage of any last opportunities offered by the winter transfer window, among other things,” said Baumann. “We would like to thank Amin for his efforts for the club over the last year and a half, and wish him all the best for the future.”

“I’m very grateful for my time at Schalke and the experience that I was able to amass here. In particular, I would like to say a special thanks to the club’s management, the coaching staff, my teammates and especially the fans for their support. I wish the club all the best and every success for their remaining games this season and also for the future,” said Younes.

Younes featured in 31 games for the Royal Blues during his time at the club, scoring twice and providing three assists.
