Klaas-Jan Huntelaar returns to FC Schalke 04

The “Hunter” is back auf Schalke! After leaving the club for Ajax Amsterdam back in 2017, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has rejoined FC Schalke 04. The Dutch striker signed a contract until the end of the season on Tuesday (19/1) and he will wear the number 21. Both clubs agreed to keep the details of the deal undisclosed.

Rabbi Matondo moves to Stoke City

Winger Rabbi Matondo has left FC Schalke 04 to sign on loan at Stoke City until the end of the 2020/21 season. The Royal Blues and the Championship side have agreed to keep the details of the deal undisclosed. The Welsh international’s contract at Schalke runs until 30th June 2023.

Rainer Widmayer has joined FC Schalke 04 on a contract running until the end of the season as an assistant to new head coach Christian Gross.

Sead Kolasinac returns to FC Schalke 04

Sead Kolasinac will soon be donning Royal Blue once again, signing a six-month contract with the club which will enter into effect on Monday (4th Jan.). The 27-year-old full back will join Schalke 04 on loan until the end of the season from Premier League side Arsenal. The Bosnia international will wear the number 20. Details of the loan agreement will not be released by either club.

Christian Gross is Schalke 04’s new head coach

Christian Gross has been appointed the new first team head coach. The Swiss signed a contract until the end of the season on Sunday (27.12.20). The coaching staff will be rounded out by incumbent coaches Onur Cinel, Naldo, Matthias Kreutzer and goalkeeping coach Simon Henzler.

Ahead of the last two games of 2020, Jochen Schneider, Head of Sport and Communication, and the board have made the following decision: Head coach Manuel Baum has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect. Huub Stevens will take charge as interim head coach for the last Bundesliga game of the year against Arminia Bielefeld (Sat, 15:30 CET) as well as the second-round DFB-Pokal game against SSV Ulm 1846 (Tues, 18:30 CET). Mike Büskens has been brought in as his assistant coach.

Mark Uth allowed to return home after night in the hospital

Good news regarding Mark Uth! The Royal Blues’ attacker has been given the all-clear to return home after spending the night in hospital under observation. Uth briefly lost consciousness after clashing heads with FC Augsburg’s Felix Uduokhai as they contested a header in the early stages of Sunday’s game in Bavaria.

Bentaleb and Harit to train individually until further notice – Schalke to dissolve contract with Ibisevic

FC Schalke 04 have made the following personnel decisions in the midst of a difficult time for the club and with an eye on the five crucial Bundesliga games remaining before the winter break. Nabil Bentaleb and Amine Harit will train individually, under the supervision of the first-team coaching staff, until further notice. Vedad Ibisevic’s contract with the club will end on 31st December 2020.
