Ligament injury: Daniel Caligiuiri sidelined

FC Schalke 04 will have to do without the services of Daniel Caligiuiri for the coming weeks. The 32-year-old suffered a partial ligament rupture after a challenge with Maximilian Mittelstädt during the 3-2 win in the Last 16 of the DFB Pokal against Hertha BSC on Tuesday.

Jonas Carls loaned to Viktoria Köln

Left back Jonas Carls has signed for third-division side Viktoria Köln on loan until the end of the season. The 22-year-old’s contract at Schalke will run until 30th June 2022.

Nabil Bentaleb loaned to Newcastle until 30th June 2020

Nabil Bentaleb has returned to the Premier League to sign on loan for Newcastle United until the end of the season. The English side will also have an option to buy the Algerian international, with his contract at S04 due to run out at the end of June 2021.

S04 extend Bastian Oczipka's contract

A permanent fixture of David Wagner’s Schalke team has committed his future to the club. Bastian Oczipka has agreed a three-year contract extension with the Royal Blues, keeping him at FC Schalke 04 until 30th June 2023. The left-back, who was played every second of the 20 competitive games so far this season, joined S04 from Eintracht Frankfurt in summer 2017.

Jean-Clair Todibo joins FC Schalke 04 for the rest of the season

FC Schalke 04 have signed Jean-Clair Todibo from FC Barcelona for the remainder of the 2019/20 season. The 20-year-old (30th December 1999) will wear the number 21 shirt at the Royal Blues.

S04 win friendly in Hamburg 4-0

FC Schalke 04 won their final friendly ahead of the second half of the season on Friday night (10/1). David Wagner’s side won 4-0 at Hamburg, with the goals being scored by Michael Gregoritsch (18’), Benito Raman (58’), Alessandro Schöpf (64’) and Rabbi Matondo (87’).

Omar Mascarell named new FC Schalke 04 captain

The Royal Blues have a new captain. Omar Mascarell has taken over the responsibility from Alexander Nübel and will lead the team out onto the pitch henceforth. "We have mutually agreed that Alex will step down from his role as captain," said David Wagner. Nübel will move to Bayern at the end of the current season, as announced on 4 January 2020 by the record champions.

Alexander Nübel's next employer is now known. The goalkeeper will play for Bayern Munich from 1st July; the record champions of Germany broke the news on Saturday (4/1). The 23-year-old's contract with Schalke ends 30th June.

Mark Uth will play for FC Köln in the second half of the Bundesliga season. FC Schalke 04 agreed a loan deal for the 28 year old until the end of the season with FC Köln on Friday (3rd January). The forward’s contract with the Royal Blues runs until 30th June 2022.
