Jonas Carls suffered a ligament injury and a bruised bone in his left foot against FC Bologna on Monday. This was confirmed by an MRT-scan undertaken in Mittersill on the day after the game. The 22-year-old will be unavailable to coach David Wagner for an unknown period of time.

Alessandro Schöpf: I look forward to every training session

Victory in Monday’s friendly against Bologna FC wasn’t the priority for Alessandro Schöpf. The midfielder is simply happy to have been out on the pitch again. “It was a good feeling,” said the 25-year-old, who returned to action after seven months on the sidelines against the Italian first-division side. As promised by coach David Wagner, he was substituted on halfway through the first half and played 23 minutes in total.

FC Schalke 04 drew 1-1 with FC Twente in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday night (23/7). Berkan Firat scored the Schalke goal in front of 19,000 fans in the Grolsch Veste, with over 2,000 away fans making the journey over the border.

Intensive first session in perfect Herzlake conditions

On Tuesday (16/07), the Royal Blues completed their first session of the pre-season training camp in Emsland. The team will stay in Lower Saxony until 19th July and will look to continue laying the foundations for a successful upcoming season. Alexander Nübel has travelled with the team, with Suat Serdar set to join up on Thursday.

Schalke U23 attacker Haji Wright has left the club to join Dutch top-flight side VVV Venlo. The American forward had one year remaining on his original S04 contract.

Two friendlies during training camp in Mittersill confirmed

FC Schalke 04 will head to Austria once again ahead of the new Bundesliga season. Two friendlies have been arranged to take place during the camp between 26th July and 3rd August in the High Tauern national park.

FC Schalke 04 sign Markus Schubert

In Suat Serdar and Alexander Nübel, the Royal Blues previously had two U21 European Championship runners-up in their ranks. Now, with the signing of Markus Schubert for an undisclosed fee, that number has risen to three. The goalkeeper, whose contract at Dynamo Dresden expired on 30th June, was also part of the Germany squad in the recent U21 European Championship in Italy and San Marino. Schubert has signed a four-year-long contract until 30th June 2023.

Ralf Fährmann has been loaned out to newly-promoted English side Norwich City for the upcoming season. At the same time, Schalke have extended the club captain’s contract for a further year until 2023.

Bernard Tekpetey joins Fortuna Düsseldorf on two-year loan

Schalke player Bernard Tekpetey will head to Fortuna Düsseldorf on loan for the next two seasons until 30th June 2021. In June of this year, S04 activated a buy-back clause to bring the 21 year old back to the club from newly-promoted SC Paderborn 07.

The Royal Blues have secured the signing of attacker Benito Raman from Fortuna Düsseldorf. The 24 year old, who was born on 7th November 1994, has signed a five-year contract with the club and will wear the number 9 shirt for David Wagner’s side.
