Nikola Katic nets against Panama as Bosnia warm up for the World Cup
The Bosnia and Herzegovina national team drew 1-1 with Panama on Saturday (6/6) in their final friendly before the start of the World Cup.
In St. Louis, USA, Nikola Katic gave his side the lead after 23 minutes. The Royal Blues’ centre-back was on hand inside the six-yard box to meet a cross in from Amar Dedic on the right-hand side and headed the ball home at the far post.
For Katic, who was substituted off after 63 minutes, the strike marked his second goal in 17 appearances for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Fellow Schalke star Edin Džeko, who is also part of the country’s World Cup squad, did not feature.
Panama equalised in stoppage time of the first half through Jiovany Ramos. The midfielder, who plays for Venezuelan club Academia Puerto Cabello, scored what proved to be the final goal of the game.
Bosnia and Herzegovina begin their World Cup campaign in Group B against Canada on 12th June (21:00 CEST). They will then face Switzerland on 18th June (21:00 CEST) before taking on Qatar on 24th June (21:00 CEST).
