U-17 World Cup: Assan Ouédraogo makes a cameo appearance in opening win

Germany U17s got off to a successful start in the U-17 World Cup as Christian Wück’s side won their opening game in Indonesia 3-1 against Mexico. Assan Ouédraogo came off the bench to make a brief appearance in Bandung.

The Schalke midfielder was introduced in the 86th minute. Germany were leading 3-1 at that point following goals from Noah Darvich (29’), Max Moerstadt (38’) and Eric da Silva Moreira (53’), whilst Tahiel Jimenez got on the scoresheet for Mexico (75’). There were no further goals as the game ended 3-1.

Germany face off against New Zealand on Wednesday (15.11) at 13:00 CET in their second group stage fixture. This game will also be played in Bandung, whilst Germany’s third match in the group stages will see them take on Venezuela (18.11., 10:00 CET, Jakarta).
