“15 years by our side”: GAZPROM a reliable partner of Schalke since 2007

Our main sponsor Gazprom have been loyal and reliable on the club’s side, who made an impressive sign with their confirmation of a continuation of the partnership in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic and with the impending relegation to the second tier. According to the famous catchphrase of the legendary Schalke head coach Charly Neumann, who remained true even in the toughest of times: after all, there will be enough loyalty in the good times.

This year, the partnership between Gazprom and Schalke marked its 15th anniversary. It all started in January 2007 in front of more than 60,000 spectators in the stadium in a friendly against Zenit Saint Petersburg. Many highlights have followed this moment, since which the world’s largest natural gas company from Russia and the Knappen have given the partnership life.

Gazprom’s engagement goes well beyond traditional sports sponsoring. Schalke’s main sponsor don’t just grace the chest of the first team’s kits, they have also been engaged off the pitch since day one of the partnership. Over the years, projects have been started with the club, such as “Step on the gas against violence”, which stands for a peaceful cooperation on the pitch and supports fan coaching in the clubs, as well as “Because you’ve earned it”, which rewards people who have done something great for others. The short documentary about the Schalke academy produced by Gazprom portrays the youth work at the club in high-quality film and shown outside of the club’s walls. In addition, Gazprom allows Schalke fans to see regular exclusive, emotional and exciting clips from behind the Royal Blue scenes on its social media channels.

In our anniversary year, Gazprom and Schalke 04 would like to remember the unforgettable moments from the past 15 years and want to continue the partnership together, paving the way for a successful future.
