Danny Latza on making his comeback at the perfect moment

The Royal Blues had plenty to celebrate on Saturday evening (23/10), scoring three goals and picking up three points in front of a sold-out crowd at the VELTINS-Arena. Another highlight of the match against Dynamo Dresden came in the 65th minute as Danny Latza made his comeback from injury. The midfielder had been sidelined since suffering a knee injury in the opening match of the season against Hamburger SV.

A day after the 3-1 defeat to Hamburger SV, a diagnosis has been made on Danny Latza’s injury. The midfielder was subbed off after half an hour following a collision with Tim Leibold. Latza has been diagnosed with a lateral collateral knee ligament injury, and is set for a spell on the sidelines.

The Royal Blues have made their first dip into the transfer market ahead of next season. Danny Latza will return to his hometown club after ten years away. The midfielder previously represented Schalke for 13 years in the academy and as a young professional. The 31-year-old has signed a contract until 2023 which will be extended by an extra year should Schalke achieve promotion in that time. The deal will not be affected by which division the club is in.
