One point. That’s all the Knappen need now to secure Champions League football for next season. Domenico Tedesco has however emphasised ahead of Saturday’s trip to Augsburg, that his team will not be playing for a draw: "We will go into the game wanting to win," said the head coach.

A highly deserved point

It was a very hard day’s work for the Royal Blues. From the 12th minute in Schalke’s 1-1 draw with Borussia Mönchengladbach, Schalke were down to ten men as Nabil Bentaleb was given his marching orders. Things seemed to get from bad to worse as Borussia opened the scoring after half an hour but the Knappen fought back to not only equalise but looked the more likely side to win the game.

Guido Burgstaller: I didn’t doubt for a second we’d not win the derby

Though Guido Burgstaller was unable to get on the scoresheet like in reverse fixture this time around, the striker was one of the Knappen’s stand-out performers on Sunday in the 2-0 win. The Austria international hunted down every ball, fought for every challenge and continually was putting the team on the front. “I just wanted to win the game!” emphasised the 28-year-old.
