Schalke win 2-0 in Leverkusen

FC Schalke 04 overcame a tough test in Leverkusen this afternoon with flying colours. In the BayArena, Schalke put in an exceptional performance to run out 2-0 winners. Goals from Guido Burgstaller (11’) and Nabil Bentaleb (89’) meant the three points would be returning with the Royal Blues to Gelsenkirchen.

When asked about Bayer Leverkusen, Domenico was full of praise for the Bundesliga high-flyers. “They’re one of the best teams in Germany at the moment,” said the 32-year-old ahead of the clash on Sunday at the BayArena. “We’ll have to be at our best to come away with something.”

2-1 home victory over Hoffenheim

FC Schalke 04 came out on top of Saturday evening’s headline Bundesliga game on matchday 23 against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Courtesy of goals from Thilo Kehrer and Breel Embolo, Schalke were able to get a key three points on the board with a 2-1 win. For TSG, Andrej Kramaric reduced the deficit with 15 minutes remaining on the clock.

Domenico Tedesco: Same performance but a different result

It’s tight in the Bundesliga from second to eleventh place. FC Schalke 04 and TSG 18999 Hoffenheim are right in the mix. Both sides need three points and clash on Saturday night as the Bundesliga’s headline game at 18:30 CET in the VELTINS Arena.

Domenico Tedesco: We need to be at the top of our game

Schalke and Bayern Munich both managed to reach the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal in midweek. On Saturday 10th February both sides will meet in the Allianz arena. On paper Bayern are clear favourites: Jupp Heynckes and his side sit 18 points clear at the top of the table and are still unbeaten.
