Sebastian Polter on attacking play, his back-heel and conceding four goals

The best goal of the seven scored in Split on Friday night (16/12) was by Sebastian Polter. The attacker found the bottom corner with a sublime back-heel in the 37th minute against Hajduk, and was involved in several other good attacks in the first half.

Thomas Reis: Keep shoring up the defence and bring further power up front

The 200 or so Schalke supporters in the away end at the Poljud stadium would certainly not have been left bored, having seen no fewer than seven goals and plenty of good chances for both sides on Friday (16th December). The fans accompanied the Royal Blues on their flight to Split, but unfortunately with a 4-3 defeat, didn’t get the result they wanted.

4-3 defeat in Croatia against Hajduk Split

Despite scoring three goals on Friday night away to Hajduk Split (16/12), FC Schalke 04 fell to defeat. The reigning Croatian Cup winners won 4-3 in the friendly match. S04’s goals were scored by Sebastian Polter (37’), Marius Bülter (44’) and Soichiro Kozuki (73’).

S04 to host Werder Bremen in winter friendly

FC Schalke 04 have organised another friendly. A week before the first league game of 2023, Thomas Reis’ team will play Werder Bremen on Saturday, 14th January (15:30 CET) at the VELTINS-Arena.

Travelling back from Vienna with plenty of lessons and experiences

FC Schalke 04 landed back on home soil on Saturday afternoon (10/12). They returned with excess luggage following the 2-2 draw with Rapid Wien; not in the form of actual baggage, but rather as lessons, experience and hard work.

Rapid friendly ends in 2-2 draw

Schalke’s first friendly of the winter break against Rapid Vienna ended in a 2-2 draw. The Royal blues led 2-0 at the break but the hosts staged an impressive second half comeback.

Friendly against FC Zürich added to the diary

The Royal Blues have another friendly to look forward to during their winter training camp in Belek. Thomas Reis’ side will come up against the reigning Swiss champions FC Zürich on Saturday 7th January (15:30 local time). The match will be played at the Titanic Deluxe Football Centre.

S04 to play Hajduk Split in Croatia

Schalke have found their final opponent for a friendly during the break for the World Cup. The Royal Blues will play Hajduk Split away on Friday, 16th December (18:00 CET) at Stadion Poljud in Croatia.

S04 to play Rapid Vienna in December a friendly

FC Schalke 04 have agreed a friendly with SK Rapid Vienna for Friday, 9th December in Austria. Thomas Reis’ side will play at 19:00 CET at the Allianz-Stadion.

After a brace in Gütersloh: Terodde anticipates playing in front of 60,000 Schalke fans

Simon Terodde needed just two minutes after having been subbed on to make his mark in Thursday’s friendly at FC Gütersloh. Having put his side 2-0 up, he added another shortly afterwards. “I’m always happy when I put it in the back of the net. Scoring is fun,” the 34-year-old said after the 3-0 win at the Ohlendorf-Stadion in Heidewald.

After his first full 90 minutes, Leo Greiml is hungry for more

Leo Greiml completed a full 90 minutes for Schalke’s first team on Thursday (22nd September) for the first time. In a 3-0 win in a friendly against FC Gütersloh, the 21-year-old put in a good performance in central defence – but he emphasised nevertheless that he has room to improve.

Terodde at the double in 3-0 win over Gütersloh

FC Schalke 04 claimed a 3-0 win in Thursday’s (22/9) friendly away at Oberliga side FC Gütersloh. Danny Latza opened the scoring (25’) in front of 2,753 spectators at the Ohlendorf-Stadion, with two goals in quick succession from Simon Terodde wrapping up victory (76’, 84’).
