No further COVID-19 cases found in latest tests

There was good news after Friday's (25/9) round of coronavirus tests, with no further cases of COVID-19 found among the first team. FC Schalke 04 carried out this additional round of tests after a player was found to be positive for coronavirus on Thursday (24/9). The affected player remains in self isolation.

Good news for all S04 fans: Germany’s heads of state have agreed on a common spectator limit for Bundesliga games. Until the end of October, clubs will be permitted to open stadiums at 20 percent of the total seated capacity.

Ralf Fährmann will be Schalke’s first choice in net

Ralf Fährmann will be between the sticks when FC Schalke 04 take to the pitch for their first competitive match of the new season in the DFB-Pokal against 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 on Sunday (13.9). The 31-year-old was on loan at Norwich City last season before joining SK Brann Bergen on a three-month loan, which was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic. Fährmann will be Schalke’s starting goalkeeper for the 2020/21 season.

FC Schalke 04 fans can start looking forward to a special Royal Blue weekend: On Saturday, 5 September, S04 are inviting their followers to a virtual season opening. While several club legends have confirmed their attendance, fans and members will also be able to take part interactively and win fantastic prizes. The Schalke Day 2020, presented by main sponsors GAZPROM, will be capped off with a first team friendly against VfL Bochum in front of 300 spectators at the Parkstadion.

S04 had originally planned to play three friendlies during their time in Austria.
