Manuel Baum appointed as new head coach of FC Schalke 04

Manuel Baum will take over as head coach of FC Schalke 04, with immediate effect. The 41-year-old was previously employed by the DFB, where he was in charge of coaching the Germany U18s. He also provided support for the association’s coaching courses. Baum has signed a contract with the Royal Blues until 30th June 2022.

FC Schalke 04 have signed goalkeeper Frederik Rönnow for the remainder of the 2020/21 season from fellow Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt. In exchange, Markus Schubert will join the Eagles on a season-long loan. Schubert’s contract with the Royal Blues is set to run until 30th June 2023.

The Knappen won their last official preseason friendly on Saturday with a convincing performance against neighbours VfL Bochum. One day later, the team beat the U23s 4-1 in an internal friendly.
