Soufiane El-Faouzi signs new deal until 2030

FC Schalke 04 have secured the long-term future of Soufiane El-Faouzi, tying the midfielder down to a new contract until 2030 on the back of a stellar season. The new agreement does not include a release clause. Following his arrival from the 3. Liga, El-Faouzi started all 34 league matches during Schalke’s promotion-winning campaign, completing the full 90 minutes on 31 occasions.

“Soufiane possesses exactly the quality and mentality we want to see in our squad. Extending his contract is an important statement for the direction we’re taking – both in sporting terms and with regard to developing the value of our squad. Following his performances at Schalke, he has naturally become a highly sought-after player on the market. This extension is also recognition of what he has achieved. Our focus is on ensuring that, as a young player, he can continue to develop in the best possible environment and remain an important part of our team going forward,” explained Youri Mulder, director of professional football.

“I feel very much at home at Schalke and especially within the team. We’ve had good discussions about my future,” said Soufiane El-Faouzi. “I’m looking forward to seeing the lads again and starting preparations for my first Bundesliga season.”

El-Faouzi joined the Royal Blues from 3. Liga side Alemannia Aachen in the summer of 2025. During the campaign just gone, in which Schalke finished as 2. Bundesliga champions, he led the league in both total distance covered and the number of high-intensity runs. Following the season, the 23-year-old was also called up by the Moroccan Football Federation for the national team’s pre-World Cup training camp.
