Schalke officially bid farewell to a Knappenschmiede graduate: Juventus have signed Weston McKennie on a permanent basis. The midfielder joined the club in Northern Italy on a loan deal last summer.

The transfer deal came with an option to buy, which would have been activated automatically provided certain predetermined criteria was met. The team currently third in the Serie A anticipate the criteria to be met and have now reached an agreement with the Royal Blues ahead of schedule. MecKennie’s contract with the Knappen was originally set to expire in 2024.

The fact that Juventus have moved the permanent transfer deal for McKennie forward gives us more planning security with a view to next season.
