Kuruçay returns to team training

Hasan Kuruçay was back involved in team training on Tuesday morning (14/7). The centre-back had been forced off shortly before half time during Saturday’s friendly in Gütersloh (11/7) with a muscular issue.

Dejan Ljubičić will link up with the squad next Sunday (19/7), travelling directly to the Stubai Valley. The team will arrive that evening ahead of a week-long training camp in Neustift. Before making the journey, the Royal Blues will play a friendly away to fourth-tier FC Erzgebirge Aue on Sunday afternoon.

Mika Wallentowitz has been given some time off following the UEFA European Under-19 Championship, which ended for Germany with a 2-0 defeat to Spain in Saturday’s final. The 18-year-old will begin training with the first-team squad at the start of August. Nikola Katic will also return to Gelsenkirchen around that time following his post-World Cup holiday after representing Bosnia and Herzegovina at the tournament.

Centre-back Felipe Sanchez has left FC Schalke 04 to join Mexican top-division side Santos Laguna on a season-long loan deal. The two clubs have agreed that an obligation to buy will be triggered if Sanchez makes a certain number of appearances for the Torreón-based side during the 2026/27 season.
