Assan Ouédraogo to return home early from the U-17 World Cup

Midfielder Assan Ouédraogo will depart the U-17 World Cup in Indonesia early and return to Gelsenkirchen on Sunday (19/11). After detailed examinations by the DFB’s medical team, he had more scans on Thursday afternoon (16/11) in Indonesia and they showed he had suffered an ankle injury.

The S04 academy product was forced off injured after a strong tackle by the New Zealand captain in the first half in Germany’s second group game. The 17-year-old was still in pain a day later, which meant the DFB decided to do some scans in the hospital in Jakarta. They showed a worse injury than originally thought. Ouédraogo will undergo more tests with the club doctors upon his return to Gelsenkirchen.
