First training session for Satoshi Tanaka and Junior Adamu
Schalke are back in training, with the first-team squad beginning preparations for the upcoming Bundesliga season at 14:30 CEST on Sunday (5/7). Individual performance and medical tests had already taken place over the previous two days.
Fans attending the Royal Blues’ public training session can look forward to seeing two new faces. Junior Adamu, who was previously on loan at Scottish champions Celtic from SC Freiburg, and Satoshi Tanaka, who spent the second half of last season at Fortuna Düsseldorf, will take part in their first training session with Schalke.
Knappenschmiede youth academy star Luca Vozar will also be involved. Vozar captained Schalke’s U19s last season and has been at the club for 11 years. He will now be part of the first-team squad.
Nikola Katic and Dejan Ljubičić will miss for the start of training. The Bosnia and Herzegovina and Austria internationals have been given time off following their exits from the World Cup and will return to training with Schalke at a later date.
Mika Wallentowitz is currently with Germany U19s at the European Championship in Wales. Germany finished as runners-up in their group to reach the semi-finals. Their opponents will be decided on Sunday (5/7) in the crucial clash between Ukraine and Italy.
Emil Højlund is completing an individual training programme in Denmark in agreement with Schalke 04. The board and the medical team are in close contact with the player and his physiotherapists. A joint decision on when he will return to Schalke will be made at a later date.
Tomas Kalas, along with Steve Noode, Martin Wasinski and Mauro Zalazar, who have all recently returned from loan spells at Union Titus Pétange, RFC Liège and SC Braga U23 respectively, completed full performance tests on Friday and Saturday. The board has informed the four players that they will now train exclusively with the U23s and no longer with the first-team squad. Kalas, Noode, Wasinski and Zalazar will travel to the U23 training camp in Billerbeck on Sunday (5/7).
Felipe Sanchez and Luca Podlech have both been permitted to hold talks with another club. Ayman Gulasi is completing an individual training programme following his injury.
