Martin Wasinski joins Almere City on loan
Martin Wasinski has joined Almere City on a season-long loan, with the agreement between the sides also including an option to make the loan a permanent transfer. Wasinski is still under contract at Schalke until 30th June 2028.
“This decision benefits both sides and also vastly increases Martin’s chances of regular playing time. We wish Martin all the best in Almere, and would like to thank him for his efforts at Schalke,” said Youri Mulder, S04’s director of professional football.
The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Belgian second-division side RFC Liège, where he featured in 32 games for the club. The defender scored once and provided eight assists as the club managed to qualify for the promotion play-offs.
Wasinski has featured twice in the Regionalliga West for the Schalke U23s this term, having made nine other appearances for the side prior to his loan spell to Liège. The defender made two appearances in the DFB-Pokal for Schalke’s first team in 2024/25, as well as featuring in one second-division match. Wasinski spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at the KRC Genk reserves.
