Royal Blues to earn €26.5 million from sale of LEC slot

FC Schalke 04 has made the decision to sell the starting place in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) to the Swiss esports organisation Team BDS for a total sum of €26.5 million. The transfer of license rights will come into force in spring 2022. After four years, the Royal Blues are withdrawing from the top European League of Legends competition. The decision on the continuation of the involvement in the football simulations FIFA and PES as well as in the League of Legends Prime League is still pending.

Rouven Schröder: The lads are eager to get to work, which is what we want to see

Pre-season has been underway in Gelsenkirchen since last week, with the first competitive game of the season coming up in a month’s time. Sporting director Rouven Schröder spoke about the positive impressions he’s been able to gather from the team during this time, and added that he continues to work hard on planning next season’s squad.

Pre-season begins: Players greeted with applause from several hundred fans

Football is back at Schalke. In front of several hundred spectators, head coach Dimitrios Grammozis' team completed the first training session of the 2021/2022 pre-season on Thursday (17/06) at the Parkstadion. Individual performance tests and medical examinations had already taken place a few days prior.

After a short summer break, the Schalke 04 first-team players have begun preparations for the upcoming season. After a round of Covid-19 tests, the players underwent various individual performance tests at medicos.AufSchalke. The team were able to greet several new faces during the tests, including Simon Terodde.

Pre-season begins with Covid-19 tests

FC Schalke 04's pre-season ahead of the 2021/2022 campaign is underway. In order to guarantee the safety of all involved with the first team, players, coaches and staff have been individually tested for a possible Covid 19 infection under the supervision of the team physician and hygiene officer Dr. Patrick Ingelfinger on Monday (14/06).

Rouven Schröder: We need to be a community – and we need to act like one

Rouven Schröder has eagerly stepped up to his new job as FC Schalke 04 sporting director with a lot of tasks to complete. On Friday (28 May), the 45-year-old was officially introduced at a press conference. "I’m very proud. My time here has already been so intense, with so much Schalke, that makes me really want to get to work," said Schröder, who is no stranger to the Ruhr region.

Schalke to return to Mittersill for pre-season training camp

The Royal Blues will begin pre-season training on 17th June. Head coach Dimitrios Grammozis and his team will have six weeks to prepare for the start of the 2021/22 Bundesliga 2 season (23rd-25th July).

Atsuto Uchida to become Schalke’s club ambassador

FC Schalke 04 have appointed Atsuto Uchida as an official club ambassador. In his new role, the long-standing defender and fan favorite will help to build bridges between the club and the Japanese football and also promote Schalke’s name, traditions and values throughout the world.

S04 and GAZPROM release a short documentary on the Knappenschmiede

FC Schalke 04 and main club sponsor GAZPROM have released a short documentary about the club’s famous academy, the Knappenschmiede. The film follows the staff and players closely as they go about their day-to-day business. Five episodes will be available to watch on the Royal Blues’ official YouTube channel, with the first already online.

Hertha game can go ahead

Tuesday’s PCR tests (11 May) confirmed a further positive coronavirus case in the FC Schalke 04 first team. The player in question is now in strict isolation within the quarantine training camp. He is now the third player with a positive coronavirus test result. The other two players were already isolating at home before the quarantine training camp began. Four other players, who were categorised in ‘contact group one’ are also under quarantine.
