100,000 fans get a flavour for the new season

The ‘Schalke-Day’ has been a wonderful tradition for years and it was once more an unforgettable experience for the players, coaches, members of the board and fans alike. Ralf Fährmann remains Schalke captain, Naldo vice-captain

Schalke’s team captain will remain Ralf Fährmann. It was confirmed during the training camp in Mittersill that he would retain the armband, with Naldo his vice-captain. The Brazilian replaces the departed Leon Goretzka.

Cedric Teuchert: Every goal gives you confidence

Cedric Teuchert was the match winner in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Schwarz-Weiß Essen. “Goals are important for every striker,” he said after the game. It was his second strike of pre-season, with his first coming in the 3-1 victory over Hebei Chine Fortune FC. “When you score, it gives you confidence for the upcoming season,” explained the U21 international.

First session for Salif Sané

There’s a new face at Schalke! Salif Sané took part in his first training session as a Royal Blue on Saturday when the 27-year-old, who moved from Hannover 96 in the summer, completed an individual program with fitness coach Ruwen Fuller ahead of the friendly with Schwarz-Weiß Essen. After the session, the Senegal international made the trip to the Uhlenkrug stadium with the rest of his teammates. The defender is not yet fully a part of the squad, however, and will watch on from the touchlines.

DFL Media Day at Schalke: a busy day at the VELTINS-Arena! On Monday (16/7), after Ralf Fährmann and his teammates had finished training, they spent around four hours of the afternoon in the Arena demonstrating their skills on the ball and their showmanship in front of the camera.

Trio of first team players join up with squad for first session after China tour

The Royal Blues kicked off the second part of their pre-season training on Monday (16.7). Domenico Tedesco welcomed back some familiar faces to training for the first time this summer, including the two Austrians Guido Burgstaller and Alessandro Schöpf, who were in action for their country until the middle of June.

Following ten days in China and two friendlies, Ralf Fährmann only has positive conclusions to draw. “That was an important building block. The trip allowed us to integrate the new players and we have become closer as a group. Now we need to start working hard again,” said the Royal Blue captain.
