Matthew Hoppe reaches the Gold Cup final

Matthew Hoppe and the US men’s national team booked their place in the Gold Cup final during the early hours of Friday morning. 20,500 people watched on at the Q2 stadium in Austin, Texas as the Schalke man and his international teammates beat next year’s World Cup hosts Qatar 1-0 in the semi-final.

Matthew Hoppe sends USMNT to the semi-finals of the Gold Cup

Matthew Hoppe scored the winner to send the USMNT through to the semi-finals of the Gold Cup on Monday night (26/7). The striker netted the game-winning goal for his side in a 1-0 victory over Jamaica. It was the 20-year-old's first ever international goal in his third appearance for the side, as he also picked up the Man of the Match award.

A 1-0 win over Canada saw the USMNT and Matthew Hoppe top Group B in the Gold Cup on Sunday (18/7). Schalke’s striker came on for his second cap in the 75th minute, replacing Gyasi Zardes.

Matthew Hoppe makes international debut for USA

S04 attacker Matthew Hoppe made his debut in the early hours of Friday (16/07, Middle European time zone) for the US Men’s National Team. The 20-year-old played 58 minutes in his side’s 6-1 win over Martinique and provided the assist Daryl Dike’s goal in the 14th minute.

Opening win for Matthew Hoppe in Gold Cup

The US national team enjoyed a successful start to their latest Gold Cup campaign as Schalke forward Matthew Hoppe and Co. took a 1-0 win against Haiti. The only goal of the day was scored by Sam Vines of the Colorado Rapids in the eighth minute.

Matthew Hoppe called up to USMNT Gold Cup squad

On Thursday (1/7), Matthew Hoppe was called up to head coach Gregg Berhalter's UNMNT squad for the upcoming Gold Cup. Hoppe is one of 23 players to have made the roster for the tournament, which runs from 10th July until 1st August and will be hosted in the US.

Alessandro Schöpf, under contract at FC Schalke 04 until 30th June, was part of the Austria side that nearly caused an upset against Italy in the round of 16 at EURO 2020. Austria narrowly lost 2-1 in extra time at Wembley.
