Martin Wasinski loaned out to KRC Genk
Martin Wasinski will be loaned out to KRC Genk until the end of the season. The 20-year-old will initially join up with the Belgian club’s second team where he will gain match practice while also hopefully staking his claim to some minutes in the first XI.
“Martin has settled in well during his first few months here at Schalke and has shown great commitment. Since he is only being handed a limited amount of playing time at the age of 20, we believe a loan is best both for him and us as a club. We wish him all the best both in terms of sporting success and his development during this spell in Genk,” said director of professional football Youri Mulder.
The right-footed player joined Sporting Charleroi in 2018 following spells at his youth clubs US Hesbignonne and Stade Waremme. Wasinski made his debut in the Belgian top flight at the age of 17. In January 2023, he moved on loan to KV Kortrijk, where he remained until the summer of 2024. The defensive-minded youngster has made a total of 17 appearances for Belgium across various youth international levels, most recently featuring for the U20s.
