S04 begin pre-season with performance and medical tests

37 days after the conclusion of the 2023/2024 season, FC Schalke 04’s first team returned to start preparations for the new campaign. The players were split up into small groups on Monday (24/6) for performance tests at medicos.AufSchalke – presented by club partner Knappschaft Kliniken. The second round of the tests will take place on Tuesday (25/6).

“The tests were tiring at times, but they were still fun,” reported Ron-Thorben Hoffmann. Monday was a good start to life auf Schalke for the new goalkeeper signed from Eintracht Braunschweig. “It’s finally time to get started, we had long enough off on holiday. It was nice to meet some of my new teammates. I’m really excited for the first training session on Wednesday. I can’t wait to get know the whole team and the coaching staff,” he added.

The tests in house 2 of medicos.AufSchalke consisted of two parts. Ron-Thorben Hoffmann, Adrian Gantenbein and Co. underwent orthopaedic and internal testing. One reason for the tests is to determine if all the players are fit and at 100% for the start of training. The results will also help the coaching team balance the individuals’ workloads in the coming weeks. Further tests were carried out in the gym and out on the training pitches.

First training session live on YouTube

Karel Geraerts’ team will be out on the training ground for the first time in pre-season on Wednesday (26/6) at 10:30 CEST. However, due to the EURO 2024 game between Georgia and Portugal that evening at the Arena AufSchalke, no fans are able to attend training.

Nevertheless, all fans can follow the first session of the new season on YouTube. The stream will be presented by medicos.AufSchalke.

Fans can attend training on Thursday (27/6) free of charge. That session will also begin at 10:30 CEST.
