Karel Geraerts: The red card was a game changer

The four goals at the Max-Morlock-Stadion on Saturday (10/8) were not the only talking points after the final whistle. Ron Schallenberg’s controversial red card was also on everyone’s lips, with Karel Geraerts and FCN coach Miroslav Klose giving their thoughts on it at the post-match press conference. They also talked about what their respective sides did well and not so well. Ron Schallenberg commented on the incident himself in the mixed zone.

S04 beaten 3-1 in Nürnberg after controversial red card

FC Schalke 04 lost at a sold-out Max-Morlock-Stadion on Saturday (10/8) despite a strong first half which saw the Royal Blues go into the break 1-0 up thanks to a goal from Ibrahima Cissé (45’). After a controversial red card for Ron Schallenberg in injury time of the first half, 1. FC Nürnberg turned the game around after the interval thanks to goals from Lukas Schleimer (47’), Caspar Jander (56’) and Rafael Lubach (76’).

THE VELTINS-Arena was full of happy faces after Schalke’s 5-1 win over Eintracht Braunschweig on Saturday night (3/8). Head coach Geraerts was also satisfied with the matchday 1 victory, unlike his opposite number Daniel Scherning. Captain Kenan Karaman and Justin Heekeren also spoke to the media after the game.

S04 kick off new season with a 5-1 win at home against Braunschweig

FC Schalke 04 beat Eintracht Braunschweig 5-1 on Saturday night (3/8) at the VELTINS-Arena. Moussa Sylla and Kenan Karaman both scored twice on matchday 1 after Tobias Mohr had opened the scoring.

Karel Geraerts: We are flexible – which is just what we want to be

Competitive football is back! After six weeks of pre-season, including the training camp in Mittersill and a number of friendlies, FC Schalke 04 host Eintracht Braunschweig on matchday 1 of the new season at the VELTINS-Arena on Saturday night (3/8) at 20:30 CEST. Karel Geraerts is looking forward to the start of the 2024/25 campaign: “I’m excited about the atmosphere at the ground. We feel ready to put in a good performance,” said the head coach.

Matchdays 3 to 7 scheduled

The DFL announced more dates and times for fixtures on Thursday (18/7). Between matchdays 3 and 7, FC Schalke 04 will play twice on a Friday, twice on a Sunday and once on a Saturday night.

Five days after announcing the fixture list, the DFL scheduled the first two matchdays of the season on Tuesday (9/7).

It goes without saying that FC Schalke 04’s aim at the Nevernot Cup on Saturday (6/7) was to finish first and come away with the trophy, but the Royal Blues ended up in second place following a 1-0 loss against Kickers Emden and a 4-2 victory over hosts SV Meppen.

S04 to host Eintracht Braunschweig on matchday 1

FC Schalke 04 will face Eintracht Braunschweig at the VELTINS-Arena on the opening matchday of the 2024/25 2. Bundesliga season, pitting new signings Ron-Thorben Hoffmann and Anton Donkor against their old club. The game will either be played on 3rd or 4th August.
