Bundesliga Home Challenge: Winning start in front of 4,500 Schalke fans

As football continues to be sidelined by the ongoing coronavirus crisis, 26 Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 clubs have come together for the inaugural “Bundesliga Home Challenge” tournament. FC Schalke 04 opened their account on Saturday (28.3) against FC St. Pauli. Schalke’s professional gamer Tim "Tim Latka" Schwartmann won his opening match 1-0, before Nassim Boujellab dominated his fixture 3-1 in front of 4,500 watching Schalke fans.

Schalke to start cyber training

David Wagner made the decision on Friday (27/3) that the first team’s work at home will now include cyber training.

FC Schalke 04 players waive their salaries

The first-team players at FC Schalke 04 had already made it clear that they wanted to help out the club and its staff during the ongoing coronavirus crisis. Now, they have agreed with the club’s leadership that they will waive parts of their salaries and bonuses until 30th June 2020.

S04 to take part in the “Bundesliga Home Challenge"

In the absence of football as a result of the ongoing Corona pandemic, 26 clubs from the top two divisions in Germany are coming together to participate in the “Bundesliga Home Challenge”. This DFL initiative is an online competition using FIFA simulations. Schalke’s first game is this coming Saturday (28th March) at 18:00 CET against St. Pauli.

In a neck-and-neck race, Jean-Clair Todibo narrowly received more votes (36%) than Ahmed Kutucu to win February’s Player of the Month award, presented by Hagedorn.

Schalke players training individually until next Monday

FC Schalke 04’s squad will all be placed on individual training regimes up until the end of this week (22nd March). Team training will resume on the following day (23rd March) but will take place behind closed doors.

“It’s about protecting the club’s existence”

All Bundesliga fixtures have been postponed until 2nd April due to fears surrounding the outbreak of Coronavirus, and the restrictions imposed because of it. Christian Seifert, CEO of the DFL, announced the news during a press conference on Monday afternoon (16th March).

Friendly against FC Zenit postponed

The friendly against FC Zenit, which was due to take place on 29th March at the newly re-opened Parkstadion, has been postponed. The Russian Champions will not travel to Gelsenkirchen due to the coronavirus.

FC Schalke 04 to celebrate the re-opening of the Parkstadion on 29th March

The future born out of tradition. FC Schalke 04 will face FC Zenit in a friendly match on Sunday, 29th March at 14:30 CET, marking the re-opening of the Parkstadion – the Royal Blues’ home ground between 1973 and 2001, where they enjoyed huge success.

Schalke 04 ranked 6th in 2019 Toutiao Sports Ranking Table

Toutiao Sports recently released a list to rank all their football accounts based on their digital performances in 2019. On this list, Schalke 04 is the only German Club in the top 10, resting in 6th place.
