Suat Serdar called up to Germany national team

Congratulations are in order for Suat Serdar as the Schalke midfielder has been called up to the Germany squad by head coach Joachim Löw for the coming games against Argentina (9.10) and Estonia (13.10).

Since Toni Kroos and Jonas Hector have dropped out of the team at short notice, the 22-year old Serdar can be happy about his call-up to the first team. Serdar has been an integral part of the Germany national team youth set-up since playing for them at U16 level.

It was a very special moment for me.

The 22-year-old played eight international matches for Germany U21s and also participated at the U21 European Championships last summer in San Marino and Italy. Stefan Kuntz’ side finished as European Championship runners-up. Serdar has scored three times this season in the Bundesliga. “It was a very special moment for me today when I got the call from the national team coach. The call-up makes me proud and I’m really looking forward to the coming week with the national team,” said Serdar.

“Everyone at Schalke is delighted that one of our boys was called up to the Germany national team. Suat has earned this nomination through his exemplary attitude, his unconditional commitment and his outstanding achievements,” praised sporting director Jochen Schneider.
