Cedric Teuchert moves to Union Berlin, Pablo Insua stays at Huesca

Two Schalke players have left the club at the start of the weekend. Cedric Teuchert has moved to the capital, while Pablo Insua has made his move to Spain permanent.

Cedric Teuchert

Teuchert, who became a Royal Blue in January 2018, has signed for Union Berlin with immediate effect. His S04 contract would have ran out in 2021. Both clubs have agreed to keep the details of the transfer undisclosed.

“Cedric is a talented, young striker. He showed that in Hannover. After a lot of consideration, we allowed him to fulfill his wish of leaving. He now has the chance to further develop his skills in the Bundesliga at Union Berlin. We would like to wish him all the best,” said Head of Sport Jochen Schneider.

Teuchert made 17 competitive appearances for Schalke, including two games in the Champions League. The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at Hannover 96 in Bundesliga 2, scoring six goals in 24 games, as well as registering four assists.

Pablo Insua

Insua promoted with Huesca

Pablo Insua has also left Schalke permanently. The centre back, who only played once for the club after joining in 2017 from Deportivo La Coruna, was loaned out to Spanish second-tier side SD Huesca. After they were promoted to La Liga this season, the defender will now return to his native country on a permanent basis.

“We were all pleased that Pablo was able to win promotion. He’s had a lot of bad luck with injuries over the past few years, so we would like to wish him all the best on the pitch but also with his health too,” commented Jochen Schneider.
