Schalke lose 6-1 at home to Union

It wasn't to be for Schalke as they were defeated 6-1 on Saturday afternoon. Marius Bülter brought the Royal Blues level from the spot just after the half-hour mark. Morten Thorsby (6'), Sheraldo Becker (36', 46'), Janik Haberer (45+3') and Sven Michel (87', 90') all scored for the visitors.

Marius Bülter rescued a point for S04 with his penalty in injury time after the away team came from 1-0 down to lead 2-1. Rodrigo Zalazar opened the scoring with a stunning strike in the first half for the Royal Blues.

Bundesliga football is finally back at the VELTINS-Arena! 455 days after FC Schalke 04’s last home game in the top flight, the Royal Blues will host Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday (13/8) at 18:30 CEST in front of a sold-out stadium. “We’re really excited. The atmosphere will be very special,” said Frank Kramer. “5,000 Schalke fans were in the ground in Cologne and got behind us, now we’ll have 60,000 of them.”
