Uth, Kabak and Wagner breathe a sigh of relief

The final score in the 4-2 defeat against Viktoria Köln wasn’t the most important thing – Mark Uth and Ozan Kabak’s comebacks were the key thing from Friday’s friendly. Both players were able to play the full 90 minutes after a long time on the sidelines. A debut and three comebacks during 4-2 defeat to Viktoria Köln

FC Schalke 04 fell 4-2 at the hands of Viktoria Köln on Friday (6.9) after two late goals from the third-division side. After recovering from a foot injury, Ozan Kabak made his debut for the Royal Blues, while Jonas Carls, Rabbi Matondo and Mark Uth all made their comebacks after lengthy breaks. The latter of the two also added their names to the scoresheet.

Hamza Mendyl joins Dijon FCO on loan

Hamza Mendyl will leave FC Schalke 04 to join Dijon FCO on loan until 30th June 2020. The French side finished in 18th place in Ligue 1 last season. The left-back joined the Royal Blues in summer 2018 and signed a contract until 30th June 2023.

Africa Cup of Nations finalist Salif Sané returns to training

The final Royal Blue has returned to pre-season just days before the season opener in the first round of the DFB-Pokal on Saturday away against SV Drochtersen/Assel (10/8, 15:30 CEST). Salif Sané, who reached the final of the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal, finally rejoined the squad on Tuesday (6/8) – partly training with the team and partly on his own.
